Moments That Make Marlborough
At Marlborough, school spirit runs deep—and our traditions bring it to life. From festive celebrations and quirky dress-up days to meaningful moments that mark each student’s journey, these shared experiences build community, spark joy, and create memories that last a lifetime.
All-School Meetings
Held weekly, our All-School Meetings bring the entire community together for announcements, performances, guest speakers, laughter, and moments of reflection.
Middle School Sleepover
A beloved tradition where students spend the night on campus enjoying swimming, crafting, food trucks, bounce houses, and a fan-favorite lip-sync battle—all while building friendships and making lasting memories.
Pumpkin Day
Pumpkin Day is a festive tradition featuring a campus-wide costume parade and contest. Students compete for titles like “Most Villainous,” while staculty showcase their creativity to be judged by All-School Council.
Grandparents and Special Friends' Day
Held just before Thanksgiving Break, Grandparents and Special Friends' Day invites loved ones to campus for a glimpse into student life—a meaningful celebration of connection across generations.
Winter Fest
Winter Fest is a joyful campus tradition that brings students, faculty, and staff together for food, music, games, and raffles—a festive send-off before Winter Break.
Class Color & Song
Before they leave the Middle School, 9th graders select their Class Colors and Song. They carry the colors with them through Upper School and sing their song at various school celebrations.
Banner Presentation
10th-grade students create and present a banner embodying the best characteristics of their class and all they bring to the school community. It is displayed on campus every five years when they celebrate a milestone reunion.
Spirit Week
Launched in 2010, Spirit Week is a high-energy tradition featuring themed dress days, community drives, and a crowd-favorite dance-off—celebrating school spirit and togetherness.
Ring Ceremony
Marking the passage into their final year at Marlborough, this tradition uses the class ring—first introduced in the 1920s—to symbolize the unity and shared journey of the Junior Class.
Pin Ceremony
To celebrate their completion of Middle School, 9th graders are given a Marlborough School pin at a special ceremony at the end of the year.
Senior Pool Jump
A tradition started by the Class of 2014, Seniors celebrate their last day by running across campus and jumping into the pool—ending their Marlborough journey with joy and pride.
Commencement
Since the Class of 1890, Marlborough’s Commencement has honored graduating Seniors with speeches from student leaders and the Head of School—celebrating achievements and new beginnings.
