Marlborough Writers Take Home 12 Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Combine with the visual arts winners, Marlborough students won a total of 80 Regional and 3 National awards.

In addition to the 68 Regional and 3 National awards earned by Marlborough visual arts students, Marlborough writers earned 12 Regional awards! 

The Scholastic Awards look for work that demonstrates originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision. Our students were awarded honors in six of the nine writing categories, including Flash Fiction, Poetry, Critical Essay, Humor, Personal Essay and Memoir, and Short Story, and received 3 Gold Key awards.

Since 1923, the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized creative teenagers from across the country. By receiving a Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Medal, students join a legacy of celebrated authors and artists including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, and the renowned author and illustrator who will receive the Alumni Achievement Award this year, Marc Brown.
