JV and Novice Debaters Win Western Regional Championships

Congratulations to our JV and Novice team on a dominating performance at this weekend's Western JV and Novice Regional Championships, our first post-season tournament of the year.

The girls won approximately 85% of their debates. On the first day of the tournament we were 15-1. Every student had a winning record and cleared to elimination rounds, our four students took the first and second place speaker awards in both divisions, and our novices both reached the final round and were therefore co-champions of the tournament! By the way, those two novices are 8th graders, competing with freshmen and sophomores in the high school novice division!

It is worth noting that in the last two weeks we have won the novice division with one of our students going undefeated for the tournament.

Please congratulate the following students on their individual performances:

In Novice LD, Olivia F. '22 earned a 4-1 record in prelims, was the top speaker in novice, and Co-Champion of the tournament!

In Novice LD, SarahMae T. '22  was undefeated throughout the entire tournament, earned the 2nd place speaker award in novice, and was Co-Champion of the tournament!

In JV LD, Julia S. '20 earned a winning record, was the 2nd place speaker in JV, and made it to the semifinal round of the tournament, just one round shy of a closeout in JV as well!

In JV LD, Cameron L. '20 earned an undefeated record in preliminary rounds, was the top speaker in the division, and made it all the way to the finals, finishing as the runner-up.
