Anything But Ordinary: Snoopy and the Class of 2025

The Class of 2025 joined a long line of senior classes before them when they unveiled their chosen mascot to the entire school community: Snoopy, the beloved beagle from Charles Schulz’s Peanuts. The class chose Snoopy to represent their creativity, spirit, and determination to leave their mark on Marlborough.

“Snoopy is not your average beagle, just as the Class of 2025 is not your average grade,” explained Senior Class President Sasha B. ’25 at the All-School Meeting (ASM) where the mascot was revealed. “Snoopy’s unstoppable imagination helps keep his life anything but ordinary, which is super fitting for our class,” Sasha added.

Each of the Senior Class Representatives highlighted how Snoopy’s characteristics align with their respective areas of focus, and those within their grade. Arts Representative Georgia G. ’25 emphasized Snoopy’s creative credentials, noting that he even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and “performs his signature happy dance whenever piano music plays.”

The choice also reflects the class’s emphasis on community and understanding. Community Partnerships Representative Libby D. ’25 pointed out that “Snoopy is the only non-bird character in the Peanuts universe who can understand Woodstock’s speech, which shows how although we may be very different from each other, we always seek to understand one another.” Environmental Representative Georgia M. ’25 noted Snoopy’s precedent-setting, sustainable fashion choices with his staple dog collar and Athletics Representative Lauren M. ’25 reminded everyone of Snoopy’s sporting prowess. She said, “Just like the Seniors, Snoopy exemplifies perseverance and versatility.”

The tradition of choosing a class mascot is a highly anticipated milestone for Marlborough students. The selection process involves careful consideration of mascot candidates followed by a vote to choose the winner that best represents the class’s collective traits and values. The Class of 2025 will now proudly be represented by Snoopy throughout their final year and as they begin their next chapter as Marlborough alumnae.
