A Strong Season End for Novice and JV Debaters

An undefeated victory at USC, an undefeated closeout victory at Western Regional Championships, and an outstanding performance at Novice Nationals concludes this season.

Congratulations to our Novice and JV debate team on another dominating performance at this weekend's Woodward JV and Novice National Championship in Atlanta. We won a whopping 77% of our preliminary rounds in a national championship field and were a dominating presence in the elimination rounds with every one of our debaters winning a speaker award.

The following performances at Novice Nationals cap a dominant March for our novices and conclude a hugely successful season:

Junior Varsity:
Lydia D. '20 earned a 4-1 preliminary round record, won the 3rd place speaker award, and advanced all the way to semifinals.

Novice: 
Heather T. '21 earned the 7th place speaker award.
Bella W. '21 earned a 5-1 record in prelims, earned the top speaker award at the tournament, and made it all the way to quarterfinals!
Emma Y. '21 earned a 5-1 record in prelims, earned the 12th place speaker award, and made it all the way to quarterfinals! She was only eliminated when she met a higher seeded teammate in Quarterfinals.
Olivia F. '22 earned a 5-1 record in prelims, earned the 4th place speaker award, and made it all the way to semifinals!
SarahMae T. '22 earned a 5-1 record in prelims, earned the 5th place speaker award, and made it all the way to finals, where she finished as the National runner-up!
