In April, the Marlbots traveled to Houston to compete in the FIRST Robotics World Championship. This amazing event combined four levels of competition and students of all ages into an enormous celebration of technology and innovation.
Over four days of competition, the team presented to judges, scouted other teams, and played nine qualifying rounds. The Marlbots' robot, Sally Ride, performed well and also earned attention from other teams due to its laser-cut wood construction and unique extending arm system.
Of the 160 teams, Marlborough earned one of only seven judged awards based on the team’s off-field performance. The Motivate Award is given to the team that “embraces the culture of FIRST and clearly shows what it means to be a team.”
Congratulations on an exciting season, Marlbots!
