On April 10, nearly 200 Marlborough community members gathered for Violet Hour—a special evening to celebrate the generosity of our parents, guardians, faculty, and staff who have helped keep the School extraordinary through their support of this year’s Marlborough Fund.
Under twinkling lights at dusk and amid lively conversation, we celebrated more than just fundraising achievements. We celebrated what those gifts make possible: real daily impact on our students’ educational journey. This year’s campaign theme, Learning Sparks Purpose—the School’s mission statement—perfectly captures what makes the Marlborough community special. When we invest in education, we are not just funding classrooms and programs; we are igniting the spark that helps our students discover their unique purpose in the world.
Thanks to the remarkable generosity of our community, so far $2.33 million has been raised and every gift, regardless of size, has mattered. Each donor has directly enhanced the educational experience of our students, taking an amazing Marlborough education and enabling it to be even more extraordinary.
We also honored our incredible Marlborough Fund Co-Chairs, Shar Poormosleh (Ella ’28) and Leonard Chung (Jamie ’27), whose leadership has been instrumental to this year’s success. Along with a team of dedicated parent volunteers, they have worked tirelessly to bring others into the fold and grow support for our school. Each volunteer deserves tremendous appreciation for their countless hours of outreach and advocacy.
Director of Advancement Sarah Singer reflected on the power of our Marlborough community: “We have nearly 1300 donors so far this year and counting—current and former trustees, parents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, grandparents, staculty, friends, foundations and more have supported the School! The remarkable generosity of our Marlborough community, both in their gifts and their spirit of giving back, is a testament to the deep connection and shared commitment that makes this school so special.”
Throughout Violet Hour, guests enjoyed a spectacular array of culinary delights from our very own Café M and Larchmont staple Salt & Straw, wine donated by Sheeren and Oren Koules, and Lynne Weaver and the Weaver Family who provided Three Weavers Brewing beer for our guests. The delectable food and drinks provided the perfect backdrop while the highly anticipated raffle—featuring prizes like Four Dugout Club Seats to the Dodgers vs. Marlins Baseball Game, Deluxe Pedicure from Bellacures, and more, all donated by our amazing community in appreciation of their support of the Marlborough Fund—added an element of anticipation and excitement to the evening.
While we celebrate the generosity of our community, the 2024-2025 Marlborough Fund campaign continues. Every contribution helps us reach our goal of funding everything that makes Marlborough all that it is—enriching educational experiences, supporting teacher development, and maintaining the innovative programming that truly sets Marlborough apart.
For those who have already contributed, please accept our deepest gratitude. Your investment in our school community makes a tangible difference in the daily life of our students. For those considering a gift, know that your support—at any level—helps Marlborough be a place where learning truly sparks meaningful purpose.
