Marlborough and the National Coalition of Girls' Schools share the "Girls' School Advantage"

Information session, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Linda J. Sax of UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute, demonstrates the benefits of all-girls education.

On June 9, Marlborough and the National Coalition of Girls' Schools (NCGS), along with five other member schools, hosted the inaugural Girls' School Advantage event in Los Angeles. This unique information session was created for Los Angeles-area prospective families to learn about the effectiveness and unique environment of all-girls schools.

“What changed my mind about attending an all-girls school, having gone to a coed elementary school, was the balance of academics and athletics and activities. I wanted to be a part of that after seeing all these girls branch out and be involved in all different areas of the school,” said Mara A., a member of Marlborough's Class of 2014.

Nearly 400 attendees learned about the benefits of an all-girls education and the wide variety of girls' schools in Los Angeles. Presenters included opening remarks from NCGS Executive Director, Megan Murphy, keynote speaker Dr. Linda J. Sax of UCLA's Higher Education Research Institute, and a Q&A panel of student representatives from each of the participating schools, including Mara A. '14.
