Marlborough Visual Arts students have won a total of 94 awards in the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, 16 more than last year, despite being part of a larger group of entries than in the past.

Students won single entry awards in 12 of 15 different art categories ranging from Architecture to Printmaking, as well as seven awards for Senior Art Portfolios, which consisted of eight individual art pieces each.

Honorable Mention Awards went to 45 recipients (including two for portfolios); 32 received Silver Key Awards (three for portfolios), and 17 were Gold Key Award winners (including two for portfolios). All Gold Key artwork will now be forwarded to the head office in New York City for adjudication at the national level, with National Medalists to be announced in mid-March.

Last year, Marlborough was one of the top five schools in the state regarding the number of Scholastic awards received and this year Marlborough was one of the top five schools in the western states region, winning more awards than the large, local public arts high school, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and more than any other independent school in the state.
