This Year, Spirit Week Includes Charitable Giving

This year the Community Outreach Department introduced a new element to Spirit Week, asking classes to compete in bringing donated items for charities both locally and globally. The results were amazing!

This year, the Community Outreach Department introduced a new element to last week's Spirit Week, asking the classes to compete in bringing donated items for both local and international charities. Student government representatives and clubs selected recipient organizations, with an eye towards furthering existing partnerships.

Our expectations were exceeded by the overwhelming generosity of our students and families! Contributions included:

  • Over 500 pairs of shoes and 600 pairs of socks benefitting the Los Angeles LGBT Center
  • More than 600 hundred notebooks and 1,000 pen and pencils collected for Amigas de Nicaragua
  • Nearly 600 hundred pounds of hygiene and personal care items (shampoo, soap, feminine hygiene products) benefitting Homeboy Industries and the Westside Children's Center

Additionally, t-shirts used by students during the dance competition are being donated to local charities. Students volunteers mobilized to ensure that these contributions are reaching those in need in both our local communities and abroad. Thanks to everyone involved!
