Marlborough Student Charitable Fund Supports High-Risk Teenage Girls

The Marlborough Student Charitable Fund (MSCF) is a student-initiated philanthropic organization, established and run by students from the Marlborough School. The Fund, under the Women's Foundation of California, strives to provide leadership opportunities for its members while serving the needs of underprivileged women and girls in Los Angeles by furthering their educational opportunities in a variety of ways. The Fund works closely with small organizations, assesses their needs, and provides grants to help them meet those needs.

This year, (MSCF) granted a total of $40,000 to four worthy, Los Angeles-based organizations: Girls & Gangs, MOSTE, CAST, and WriteGirl. In discussions with the board regarding potential grant partners, it became clear that this year MSCF wanted to focus on providing grants to organizations that met the needs of high-risk teenage girls. All four organizations provide care and advocacy to young women who are too often disregarded by society and left to fend for themselves.
