One for the Record Books

With a little more than seven minutes to go in the third quarter of the game, Parker M. '20, Co-captain of this year's team, hit a three point shot and surpassed Marlborough's existing all-time record for most points by an individual player. The record, previously held by Shaina Zaidi '03, was 1,369 points.

"Marlborough basketball has a rich history, and there have been many great players that have come before and especially after me," said Shaina Zaidi '03, 7/8 Basketball Coach and former scoring record holder. "I'm proud to have held this record for as long as I did, and honored that Parker is the one that is surpassing it. Over the past four years, she has become like a little sister to me, and I know firsthand how hard she works and how badly she wants 'it' - being the best. She has a drive and competitiveness that I can relate to; she's unapologetically her, and I have much respect for my Mustang lil sis."

Parker first picked up a basketball at the age of three and has been playing ever since. Off the court, she is a youth ambassador for the Los Angeles Sparks and for Nike's Future Varisty Program. In 2019, Parker was selected for Nike's Until We All Win campaign, which celebrated the athletes and African-American youth leaders who are harnessing the power of sport nad making a positive change in their communities.

"Parker is a special type of student-athlete," said Sheila Pauley, Athletic Director & Physical Education Department Chair. "She has an incredible work ethic, and is a force to be reckoned with on both offense and defense. She has certainly left her mark on the Marlborough Athletic program."
