Marlborough Recognized in Every Sport for CIF-SS FORD Academic Awards

On March 24, the winners of the 38th CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS) – FORD Academic Awards program were announced. With 2,667 teams across 29 sports in Southern California submitting entries to CIF, Marlborough’s achievement is an incredible feat—every single Varsity team at Marlborough was honored.

According to the CIF-SS, to be considered, “teams must have at least five student-athletes with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA average (4.0 scale) in the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year. The highest team GPA in each sport category…determines the winner.”

Marlborough Lacrosse and Water Polo were awarded 1st Place FORD Team Academic Awards by the CIF-SS. Lacrosse won with a 3.86 GPA average and Water Polo with a 3.925 GPA average. Marlborough Golf took home the 3rd Place FORD Team Academic Award with a 3.919 GPA average and every other Varsity team received honorable mentions: Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cross Country, Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball. All of the teams achieved a 3.7 GPA average or above.

“This is a great testament to our students’ work ethic and dedication,” Athletic Director Brandon Lincoln said. “This shows that we are competitive not only in athletic competition but also in our everyday approach to academic excellence.”

Marlborough student-athletes are a powerful example of excellence and determination as these achievements are earned through dedication over time. These team awards are also a testament to the collective discipline of the individual athletes that make up each team, athletes who strive for resilience and consistency in their pursuit of excellence together.

In addition to team awards, 359 student-athletes across the CIF Southern Section have been named the individual “Student-Athlete of the Year” by their school. This award goes to a Senior who has maintained a minimum of a 3.5 GPA over the past three years, in addition to their participation in a varsity sport. Marlborough’s CIF-SS Student-Athlete of the Year is Aubrey G. ’26, who is captain of the Varsity Lacrosse team and has a 4.0 GPA.

“Aubrey has been a great contributor to the Marlborough community,” Mr. Lincoln added. “She is one of the best lacrosse players at her position in Southern California. She is also one of our School's best students. From our perspective, the nomination was a no-brainer. She has set the bar high on what it means to be a student-athlete."

Congratulations to all of the Marlborough student-athletes for being recognized for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and in their sport!
