On November 15, 2022, over 300 community members gathered on campus to celebrate the successes of Marlborough’s fall sports teams during the Fall Athletic Recognition Ceremony. The season saw 199 student-athletes compete across a total of 15 teams in Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball.
Cross Country had a fun season, racing on courses across Southern California and serving as fierce competitors within the league. The team continues to see growth in both the number of athletes and their success on the course. Varsity Cross Country finished 2nd in the Angelus League, advancing to CIF-SS Preliminaries. JV Cross Country finished 1st in the Angelus League, with nine Marlborough runners finishing in the top 15 places at the championship meet.
The Volleyball Team had a bit of a rocky road this season but the dedicated student-athletes on each of the five teams remained upbeat and focused. The positivity and sportsmanship from all players serves as a great reminder of the power of coming together on the court as a team.
During the fall, swimming is exclusively a Middle School sport. The 7th and 8th Graders were dedicated and worked hard; 7/8 Swimming earned 3rd Place at the Junior High Delphic League Championship Meet.
Tennis remains one of the school’s most popular sports. This season, four teams competed and enjoyed many podium finishes. 7/8 Purple Tennis advanced to the championship match in the Junior High Delphic League, but ultimately were defeated in the final match and finished 2nd in the league. The Varsity Tennis Team finished the regular season as Mission League Co-Champions and continued to excel throughout the CIF-SS Tennis Playoffs, playing up to the quarter-finals of the post-season tournament in Division 1.
The Golf Team celebrated a record-breaking and historic season. Varsity Golf finished in 2nd Place in the Angelus League and 2nd Place in CIF-SS Division 3. The team shot a school record of 382 in the Angelus League Finals and Kaila E. ’25 was named Angelus League MVP. Kaila had a record-breaking season of her own, shooting a nine-hole school record of five under par 31.
Congratulations to all our student-athletes, coaches, and athletics administrators for their successes this season! We want to extend a special acknowledgement to the 22 senior athletes competing in fall sports for their final fall season at Marlborough. We cannot wait to see where their athletic pursuits will take them!
