The Marlborough Mustangs celebrated an outstanding fall athletics season. It was marked by remarkable achievements, league titles, and individual excellence. With four Middle School and four Upper School sports, a total of 203 student-athletes competed across cross country, golf, swim, tennis, and volleyball.
 
 

 

 

Cross Country Highlights

Varsity Cross Country advanced to the Mission League this year, facing increased competition with incredible success. In the Mission League finals, two athletes were recognized as All-League MVPs: Maddie G. ’26 and Katelyn V. ’27. Maddie placed fourth in the Division IV CIF-SS Championship and finished 10th overall at the CIF State Meet out of 200 runners. Five runners advanced to the National Championship Race where they proudly represented the Mustangs.
 
JV Cross Country had a year of growth with great determination shown by every team member. The runners demonstrated a tremendous amount of leadership and dedication as they worked toward their goals. The 7/8 Cross Country team finished sixth in the Junior High Delphic League Finals, with every team member achieving a personal record at the race.

 

Golf Highlights

Varsity Golf claimed their first Angelus League title with a score of 191-201 at Balboa Golf Course. Kaila E. ’25 continued her exceptional performance that fans of Marlborough Golf have come to expect and admire. She earned her third consecutive Angelus League MVP title and, along with Zoey K. ’27, Avery M. ’27, and Elisha P. ’28, received All-Angelus League Honors. The team set a school record with a total score of 183 for nine holes against Peninsula, one of California’s top teams. The team finished eighth in the CIF Finals—the best finish in Marlborough history!
 
JV Golf concluded their season with a 4-2 overall record. The team showcased dedication and resilience, celebrating important wins while maintaining their focus on honing their skills and improving their game.

 

Swim Highlights

The 7/8 Swim team dominated the Junior High Delphic League, winning the championship race with a total score of 292—122 points ahead of the second place team. To cap off their banner season, the team also set a school record in team relay, solidifying their place in Marlborough history.
 
 

Tennis Highlights

Varsity Tennis shone brightly this season, highlighted by impressive individual and team achievements. Kira C. ’28 secured third place in singles, while the duo of Coco K. ’25 and Audrey N. ’26 captured second place in doubles. All three athletes received All-Mission League Honors. Coco and Audrey concluded their season at the CIF-SS Doubles Tournament over Thanksgiving Break where they battled hard and proudly represented Marlborough.
 
JV Tennis had a great developmental year. Their most memorable match was against Chaminade where they won every single match thanks to their immense talent, grit, and determination.
 
The 7/8 Purple Tennis team had a particularly memorable season, highlighted by Kelsey Y. ’29 and Skylar Y. ’29 winning first place in the Junior High Delphic League Tennis Doubles Championship. Their display of support and fair play throughout the season also earned them the League’s Most Sportsmanship Award.

 

Volleyball Highlights

The Varsity Volleyball team achieved two historic milestones in their unbelievable season. They clinched the Angelus League title for the first time since 2016 and completed a 20-game winning season—the program’s first since 2005. The team finished with an impressive 22-7 record, and celebrated numerous accomplishments, including Ava L. ’25 being named Angelus League MVP—a well-deserved honor to cap off her exceptional final season as a Mustang.
 
The JV team and Frosh/Soph team showed significant growth and resilience. The Frosh/Soph team notably overcame adversity in a memorable match against El Segundo, winning with only six players. Both 7th and 8th grade teams—7/8 Purple and 7/8 White—had outstanding playoff performances, with the Purple team finishing third in Division A and the White team becoming Division B runners-up.
