Bonnie Blackman McClure '56

Marlborough presents Bonnie Blackman McClure '56 as our 2017 Woman of the Year.

The Woman of the Year Award is presented to a Marlborough alumna who embodies the spirit of Marlborough, is recognized by her peers as a leader, and is an inspiring role model for Marlborough students. This year we are honored to present Bonnie Blackman McClure '56 as our 2017 Woman of the Year.

Bonnie has a long history of dedicated service and leadership at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), starting as a hospital volunteer at the age of seventeen. She then went on to serve on the Board of Directors of CHLA for 19 years, ending in 1998, and returning in 2002 as a member of the hospital's Board of Trustees.

Bonnie is a current member and former president of Children's Chain, one of the support groups of CHLA. She has also served as Co-Chair of the premier theater fundraising events (including Phantom of the Opera, Cirque du Soleil, Sunset Blvd., and Beauty and the Beast) and helped coordinate the CHLA Centennial Celebrations. Appointed as Chairman of the Associates and Affiliates group in 2002, Bonnie directs the activities of the 34 volunteer fundraising guilds. She chairs the Chaplaincy Advisory Board and serves on the Advancement, Executives, Safety and Quality, and Service and Access committees. She also continues to train hospital tour docents and manages the hospital archives.

In addition to her work with CHLA, Bonnie serves on the board of the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children and is a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Los Angeles.

At Marlborough, Bonnie served on the Alumnae Council, participated in the Strategic Planning Focus Group for the 2010 Strategic Plan, and is also a member of the 1889 Society.
