Marlborough Ensemble Theatre (MET) presented Witch

Witch by Jen Silverman is a sharp, subversive fable that reimagines the Jacobean drama, "Witch of Edmonton," centering on a devil who comes to a village to bargain for souls but finds his easiest target, Elizabeth, is the only one who won't sell, leading to unexpected connections and a debate on the value of a soul. The play is an inventive retelling with modern language and themes like class disparity, homophobia, and women's rights. MET's production presented this tale through a lens of both past and present, weaving together two parallel worlds grappling with the same universal questions.

Signature Productions

Marlborough’s Performing Arts Department is committed to producing professional-quality performances that span a wide range of styles—from student-devised pieces to classical and contemporary works. Every production is a full-scale collaboration, where students learn to value the creative process and respect the many roles that bring a story to life. With two fully equipped performance venues and a dedicated scene shop, our students gain hands-on experience in acting, directing, technical theater, and design, all while working at an ambitious, real-world level.

All-School Production

Open to all Marlborough students in Grades 7–12, the All-School Production is a fully mounted play or musical that showcases the collective talent of our community. No performing arts class enrollment is required to audition, and all roles—regardless of gender—are played by Marlborough students. This extracurricular opportunity brings together actors, designers, and crew members for an unforgettable creative experience.

Middle School Production

Open to students in Grades 7–9, the Middle School Production is a fully student-powered show where young performers take on every role—onstage and behind the scenes. From acting to set building, props, makeup, and costumes, students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of theater while building confidence, teamwork, and creative skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Marlborough Ensemble Theater

MET is a student-driven ensemble committed to creating bold, boundary-pushing work that challenges the conventions of high school theater. Open to advanced, Upper School theater students by audition, MET actors focus on process over product, cultivating a collaborative, community-based environment. MET members engage in play readings, original projects, and public performances while working closely with a professional creative team and student designers. With an emphasis on ensemble-building, artistic leadership, and personal growth, MET is where serious theater students come to deepen their craft and voice.
