College Counseling

Students find this trip to be a fun introduction to the college selection process. The colleges chosen represent a range of options within higher education. The goal is not to identify the "perfect" college during this trip; rather, students learn to identify the features that will likely appeal to them most when they embark on the college selection process as a junior, including student body composition, school culture, setting (urban, rural and suburban) and institutional focus (liberal arts, research, and comprehensive).

A typical campus visit includes an information session led by an admission officer, a student-led campus tour and, whenever possible, a visit with Marlborough School alumnae.

Jointly sponsored by Marlborough, Brentwood, Crossroads, and Windward schools, the program provides students and parents with the opportunity to meet with Deans and Directors of Admission from selective schools across the country. During the evening, students and parents serve as members of an admission committee, thus learning how colleges make decisions. The evening concludes with a college fair. 

A significant advantage of our college preparatory school, this event allows students from Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and surrounding areas to fully prepare for the admissions process.

The College Counseling Office plans evening programs throughout the year to introduce parents to the college admission process, the counseling timeline, and generally, the philosophy and services provided.
