- From the Desk of Dr. Sands
I want our students to believe that they have the right and ability to learn and embrace optimism and to be committed to something that is larger than self.
If you ask our 530 students why they choose Marlborough, they’ll share 530 different reasons. That’s because there’s no “one way” to be a Marlborough girl, which is just the way we like it.
An independent school for girls located in the heart of Los Angeles, Marlborough offers both a middle school and upper school program on our unified campus. With students coming from neighborhoods across the city - including as far as Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, and the South Bay - we embrace differences, seek commonalities, and prioritize kindness to positively impact each other and our community.
There's so much more to share, so we hope you'll ask questions and explore with gusto as you discover your unique reason for choosing Marlborough.
I want our students to believe that they have the right and ability to learn and embrace optimism and to be committed to something that is larger than self.
"As we strive for Excellence as one of our core values, it is impossible without the diversity of community and ideas to achieve this lofty goal."
"Boredom teaches us that life isn’t a parade of amusements. More important, it spawns creativity and self-sufficiency."
Every day at Marlborough is magic, no mirrors, no sleight of hand, simply wonder, awe, and a commitment to those things that are more important than self.
Letting go is gradual and well timed but it allows for the space of deeply knowing our children on their terms, not ours.
When I was a young woman, the rallying cry of my generation was, “Do not trust anyone over 30.”
