In the 2017 Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Award competition, Marlborough students earned a total of 133 awards at the Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention levels.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers for teens in grades 7-12 with 29 categories of art and writing. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts who look for the works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

Marlborough artists took 120 art awards across 17 different categories while Marlborough writers took 13 writing awards across 11 different categories.

Gold Key winners will have their work move on to the national level to be judged by a panel of creative-industry experts. Students who receive National Medals will be recognized at a ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
