Applying to Grade 7

Application

The Marlborough Application for the 2018-2019 academic year will be available late August 2017. Inquiries will receive a notification when our application is available. To add your name to our inquiry list, click here.

Group Activity Session

All 7th grade applicants are required to participate in a Group Activity Session. Once we receive your daughter’s application, we will contact you to schedule this appointment. Students participate in Group Activity Sessions that include creative, collaborative and problem-solving activities led by Marlborough faculty. During the Group Activity Sessions, parents go on a student-led tour, followed by an open forum with our Director of Enrollment Management Jeanette Woo Chitjian and Director of the Middle School Sean Fitts.

Transcripts and Recommendations

Transcripts

What is required?
Marlborough School requires applicants to submit first semester/trimester transcripts for the current school year as well as complete transcripts and standardized testing from the previous school year. (For example, a student applying to Marlborough for 7th grade submits all of her grades and standardized test scores from 5th grade, and the first term report card from 6th grade.)

How do I submit transcripts to Marlborough School?
Once the application is available, a CSSAD Transcript Release form will be posted here for you to fill out and submit to the applicant's school. The deadline for submitting all transcripts and test scores is on or before Friday, January 19, 2018.

Can I submit additional transcripts and test scores from earlier years?
Additional transcripts and test scores are not required, but may be submitted if you feel they strengthen the application.

Recommendations

All recommendation forms, required and optional, must be received by the Marlborough School Admissions Office on or before Friday, January 19, 2018. Like transcripts, Marlborough highly encourages all recommendations be submitted electronically by email to admissions@marlborough.org.

The recommendation forms will be available late August 2017.

Testing

The ISEE or SSAT is required for all applicants applying to grade 7.

The deadline for taking the ISEE or SSAT is on or before January 19, 2018.

How do I register for the ISEE and/or SSAT?

ISEE and SSAT testing sites fill up quickly, so please sign up as soon as possible. Registration for students applying for the 2018-2019 school year is now available online.

In order to register for the ISEE test, visit www.iseetest.org. Please remember to list Marlborough School as a score recipient - our school code is 051710.

Half-Day Shadow Visits

Want to know what it’s like to be a Marlborough girl?

We offer applicants the opportunity to shadow a Marlborough student for the morning or afternoon. Visits take place between November and February. Invitations are emailed from the Admissions Office.

Mornings at Marlborough

Here’s a chance for parents to be a “fly on the wall.”

On six days from November to February, applicant parents are invited to spend two periods visiting classes with a Marlborough parent volunteer. Invitations are emailed from the Admissions Office.

Application

Interview

Once we receive your daughter’s application, we will schedule an on campus interview and tour with your family.

Interviews take place on weekdays and include a student-led tour of campus and an interview with a member of the Admissions Committee for both you and your daughter. The entire visit lasts approximately 90 minutes. During the interview we will have the opportunity to exchange information about your daughter’s interests, goals, and experiences. Interviews will begin in September 2017 and conclude in January 2018.

My favorite thing about Marlborough is the sense of community amongst students and teachers. It is amazing to know that not only do your classmates support you, but your teachers do as well. The community makes me feel empowered and independent, and I know that every person on campus wants me to succeed.
